We are greatly looking forward to a number of titles due to be published in 2026, but we thought we would highlight a few of particular interest to us and our readers.

Stalin’s Apostles: The Cambridge Five and the Making of the Soviet Empire
By Antonia Senior
Published April 9th

The story may have been told before, but the author has uncovered new material and will inject fresh insight into the motivations and operations of the Cambridge Five. The book has already received a wealth of advanced praise.

The Black Death: A Global History
By Thomas Asbridge
Published April 30th

The subject may be bleak, but the book will be illuminating. Asbridge has a track record of bringing the medieval age to life, through books such as The First Crusade and The Greatest Knight. We are sure that this sweeping history of the plague will be as equally engaging and as perspicacious.

The Cauldron: The Making of the Modern Middle East
By Simon Sebag Montefiore
Published Aug 27th

This will undoubtedly be one of the best selling history books of the year. In some ways the book will be a sequel to the magisterial Jerusalem, as its author will bring colour and clarity to the contentious topic.

House of Cromwell: Britain’s Forgotten Dynasty
By Miranda Malins
Published Sept 24th

A book which will straddle both Tudor and Stuart eras. Will we see Thomas and Oliver Cromwell in a new, different light? It will be interesting to read about which other figures from the dynasty the author focuses on.

Poitiers: Men-At-Arms
By Richard Foreman
Autumn 2026

In terms of those readers interested in historical fiction, Richard Foreman will finish off his Men-At-Arms trilogy. Crecy and Calais have already been released. The books are a great introduction to Edward III, the Black Prince and the Hundred Years War. The Battle of Poitiers should prove a fitting climax to the wonderfully entertaining series.
