After studying medicine at Cambridge University and King’s College London, Adam joined the British Army as a doctor. Having passed through the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, he deployed to Afghanistan alongside the Grenadier Guards and the Royal Welch Fusiliers as part of the NATO led International Security Assistance Force. There, he commanded a small medical unit providing front line battlefield care in the highly kinetic Nahr-e Saraj district.

In 2013, he returned to the National Health Service to complete his medical training and now works as a General Practitioner whilst indulging his passion for all things historical.

His non-fiction writing focusses on occupational burnout in the medical profession and is published by Taylor & Francis. He is also the editor of a major medical textbook that is used by General Practitioners and Family Physicians around the world. When not working or writing, he enjoys running, sailing and travel, and is an ever-optimistic fan of English rugby. He lives near Milton Keynes with his wife Shiva, two daughters, and a very naughty beagle called Monty.
